New Banners!
Ok, foodie friends . . . I need your opinions and feedback. As you know I’m in the process of redesigning my blog to make it cooler looking and easier to find things. Sooooooo . . . I have two different banners (the part that will be at the top of the opening page where the fruit and vegetables are now) and I would like to hear what you think.
Option Number One
Option Number Two
Please leave a comment below giving your feedback and opinions. Label them option 1 and option 2 so I know which one you are talking about.
Thanks for your help!!!!
Option 1
I like option one. It presents a great picture of the wonderful diversity found in cooking through the presentation of spices (which are so critical in bringing out the amazing flavors of food). It also presents the name well.
Of these two I’d go with #1. The second one doesn’t have any flair and looks like a color wheel.
I believe I like No. 1 better.
I really like the pork roast.
I prefer Option # 2.
I like option 2. Can you drop the title down to bring the heading and sub-heading closer together?
I like the photo and layout of option 1 best, but the font of option 2 better. And I like the bar across the bottom of option 2 with your subtitle. So maybe I would like option 2 better with the photo from option 1. I really like the option 1 photo. I also like the photo on the left. So maybe that’s no help at all.
Sue. I like the top design.
Barbara
I like the first option for the banner.

#1
Option one but make the “f” s in family, friends etc lowercase!
I’m not going to be of much help – as I like them both! Number 1 is interesting with all the textures and form. It feels more more earthy and organic to me. Number 2 is more streamlined, and reminds me of an artist’s palette – food is art in my opinion. And I like that symbolism. I also like the shades of color in the background in #2. Either one is great!
I agree with all you comments but am leaning toward number 1. I really like the more organic feel of it!
I like banner #1.
I like option one the best!
I agree with one other poster. I like the design of #1 and the font on #2. Both are really well done!
I like option 2 with the picture from option 1.
I like #1. I understood what it was instantly and it is very easy to read.
Option one has warmth and strength as well as diversity. Two just leaves me flat. Option one, please. Thanks for asking.
Option number 1.
I like the first one. It has more clarity, definition and the composition has a sense of balance. I like it that you capitalized Food, Family, and Friends. The font is fine. I also like the light and dark contrasts on the first one.
I still like the vegetables in the original banner but, since that is not a choice here I would definitely go with option one. However, my eyes are not too fond of the font in the sub heading. The f’s look out of porportion but that’s what it is. # 1 has my vote!
Sorry Sue, I meant the r’s
I like Option 1.
Option 1
I like the texture and color mixture of #1.
I like Option 1 the best. It has the most contrast and is the most eye catching.
I really like option 1 the colors really pop, but I like the font of option 2 better.
I vote for option # 1 – sleek, clean, modern, easy-to-read. But I’d add some kerning/space between the ‘”r” and the “i” in “friend,” making it easier to read. Looks good!
Option 1. Easy on the eyes.
I like number one. You can see what’s in the spoons better.
Option #1!
However, when using a darker background you may want to try the font in White and a bit bolder. Two dark colors can get washed out. Or you can try a thin pale shadow to the dark text to make it pop from the dark background.
Can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
Thanks, Rhonda. I may give that a try.
I agree that the words tend to be lost because of the background. I don’t know the answer, but the suggestions sound valid. I know you’ll try to remedy this problem. It’s very attractive, Sue, good work.
Like most, option one is my favorite. On a side note, I love trying your recipes! A few of them have become regulars on our menu. Thank you for letting all of us tag along as you experiment in the kitchen and for honestly sharing your culinary experiences (the good, bad, and the ugly).
Thanks for your support, Barb!
I go for option one. It pops and it looks more in fitting with your theme. The second option is great but looks, at first glance, like an add for kitchen decor color palet.
i also prefer #1 and agree that lowercase for food, family, friends and fun is better
I really like option one. Option two reminds me of a color wheel.
I vote for option one also. Love the site!
Sue, I like Option 1 best, but I totally agree with Monica’s comments about ascpects from both. Keep up the good work. –Nanc
I vote for Option 1. It has more aesthetic and eye appeal; the wooden spoons are a great touch. Patricia Gates
I find the black font more difficult to read on the dark background on both. A lighter font or shadowed font may help. I do like the photo and layout in option 1, but the lighter background on the tag line in 2 gives a contrast that is easier to read.
Thanks, Jeff!
Option 1. It looks more adventurous! The type is also a little easier to read.
