I’ve been collecting crackle glass Christmas bulbs for a several years. I pick them up after Christmas when they’re at least half price. So using the round mirror with the wood frame as my base, I filled a large glass container with different color bulbs and then placed clear glass votives around the base of the container. The first picture is with flash so you can see the detail of the crackle glass and the second picture is without flash so you can see how pretty it is with just the candle light illuminating it.

This basic idea can be executed with any large glass container and cool round bulbs so use what you have on hand to create this simple tablecape . . . glitter covered bulbs, vintage bulbs, or satin bulbs will all work to create a beautiful tablescape!!

The other evening we had friends over for dinner and since it is getting dark so early its fun to have a simple tablescape that includes a candle. We have a round table so we use as a base a round mirror with a wide wood frame and simply change the arrangement on top of it to go with the theme of the meal or the season. This one will stay on the table through Thanksgiving and we’ll replace it with a Christmas theme when we redecorate next weekend. This tablescape is simply a medium pumpkin, a miniature one, and the candle with some silk fall leaves and bittersweet.

A tablescape has the capacity to contribute to a beautiful ambiance for a meal. I am fortunate that my hubby is my tablescape and clean up guy since it is all I can do to plan and execute the meal! Here is a simple one using some zebra grass and zinnias from our garden in an ikebana style. Doesn’t he do a great job!

Materials Needed
shallow dish
small floral arranging frog (it’s a flat metal disc or square with spikes that hold the flowers in place & can be found at Hobby Lobby)
3 flowers cut to three different heights
a few blades of tall grass

Place the frog in the shallow dish that contains water. Arrange the flowers and grass as pictured by poking the stems into the spikes.
TaDa you’re done!
